Are You Persuaded?

I picture a woman frustrated with the broken promises of a man, who claims that he loves her.  Time after time, he fails in showing, he fails in expressing, he is caught cheating and he finally shows who he really is, someone who didn't love her for who she was, only what she could give him.  She is not persuaded by other suitors that have come her way even if they truly are sincere, she is jaded by what love she understands to be.  She purposes in her heart that she will not be convinced though many men have come to prove themselves faithful, she is not persuaded.  She has become bitter, cold and numb, alone in her anger towards men.

Many times, in many places in our lives we have been cheated on, lied to, talked down to, abused and told that we are not good enough, that you don't matter, whatever your torture was....it said, "you're not enough to love".  And what comes along as TRUE, PURE, RIGHT and ultimately LOVE, we often question, we cannot believe in something so GOOD that how can it be true.  We need to be convinced because we have believed so much what we have been told.  And we have believed the lies to be truth.  But Someone has witnessed us being torn to shreds and He doesn't sit back and watch with popcorn in His hands.  He is seeking us out.  We cannot see this, nor can we at times feel Him alluring us with His goodness, but He is.

We will take a look starting from the beginning when Adam took the fruit from Eve.  God called out to Adam, seeking them out and asked Adam "who told you, you were naked", the question implies that an enemy has told us a lie, an enemy has tainted our view of God.  God asks us "who told you were dumb", "who told you you were fat", "who told you, you were ugly", "who told you, you were not worthy of my love"....."who told you"......
